Fred is an attorney and business advisor with over 40 years of experience in representing clients in the entertainment and advertising industries. The focus of his practice is domestic and international music, which includes all aspects of recording, publishing, personal appearances, and merchandising. Over the years he has worked with many well-known artists, including: Rihanna, Van Halen, Paul Anka, Bruce Hornsby, Charlie Haden, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, and Ozzy Osbourne. Fred also represents several record companies and music producers, featuring all types of music ranging from pop, rhythm & blues, rap and jazz. He incorporated Priority Records and was its general counsel for 17 years.

The focus of his advertising practice is the myriad of legal issues arising out of the representation of Reed Smith's advertising agency clients in California, including clearances, licensing, agency agreements, intellectual property, and other related matters that arise out of advertising and marketing transactions. Fred is an expert in both the dealmaking process and the intellectual property issues at the core of each transaction. He provides advice regarding potential controversies and counseling in day-to-day business matters.

Fred's career in the entertainment business began at ABC, where he specialized in business affairs and handled the licensing and acquisition of television programming for the Entertainment, Sports, and ABC News Divisions. He then worked as a business affairs attorney for ABC/Dunhill Records, where he was involved in the domestic and international recording and music publishing business for all music formats. Thereafter, he worked on major acquisitions of record companies and music publishing catalogues.
