Gary J. Klein

Gary Klein is a senior member of DLA Piper's Federal Affairs and Legislative practice group. His practice includes the representation of technology companies, energy developers, investment banks and biotechnology firms before Congress, federal and state agencies. Gary represents these entities primarily in legislative, regulatory and environmental compliance matters. In recent years, Gary also has been counsel to the Tangguh Independent Advisory Panel, and external advisory established by BP to monitor environmental and corporate social responsibility obligations at BP's Tangguh LNG facility in Papua, Indonesia. He has spoken extensively about the external panel model for assuring compliance with self-imposed commitments and minimizing reputational risk.

Gary has long represented private sector clients in matters relating to energy and environment, tax and trade, appropriations and healthcare/drug regulation. His federal administrative practice also includes representation in regulatory and enforcement proceedings at the Department of Energy, Food and Drug Administration, Department of Commerce, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation and US Trade Representative. He also represents clients on matters before the Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the House Interior and Insular Affairs Committee, the Senate and House Judiciary Committees, and the Senate and House Appropriations Committees.
