George Brauchler

George Brauchler is the elected District Attorney for the Eighteenth Judicial District (Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, & Lincoln counties). It is the most populous jurisdiction in the state, with more than 930,000 residents. Lieutenant Colonel Brauchler was mobilized and served on active duty with the U.S. Army as the Chief of Military Justice for Fort Carson and ultimately the 4th Infantry Division and the U.S. Division-North in Iraq. Professor Brauchler has unmatched and varied experience in trial advocacy. He has 18 years of experience in the courtroom and has taken over 140 trials to verdict in state, federal, and military courts, the vast majority of which have been as a Prosecutor on behalf of Colorado and the U.S. He also has courtroom experience in civil law as both a plaintiff’s and defense attorney, and in criminal law as a defense attorney.

George Brauchler is a skilled trainer of trial advocacy. He has been requested by name to lecture in Germany, Italy, and Korea and across the U.S. for groups as varied as the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, the National College of District Attorneys, the state prosecution councils of numerous states, and the U.S Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. He has also been a regular faculty member of the University of Denver College of Law, the University of Colorado School of Law and the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy JAG Schools.

Professor Brauchler has been a pioneer in—and strong advocate for—the burgeoning use of technology in the courtroom, emphasizing Power Point as the foundational software. George does more than preach the use of litigation technology; he uses it. With one exception, Professor Brauchler has used Power Point or some other modern technology in every case he has tried since being released from active duty in 2002.
