George H. Heberton

George is a former co-chair of the real estate and transactions department. His practice places particular emphasis on the representation of corporations, partnerships and limited-liability companies engaged in development, acquisition, leasing, licensing, management and financing of various service, software, manufacturing, healthcare, and real estate opportunities. He has represented companies in numerous areas of law including mergers, corporate acquisitions, transactional negotiations, securities and tax matters. He has acted as outside general counsel to his clients, covering all areas of law.

He has extensive experience in the development, financing (debt and equity), acquisition, and sale of office, retail, and mixed-use projects and joint ventures investing in operating businesses. His practice also includes extensive work with overseas investors participating in U.S. real estate investments and developments.

Earlier in his career, George was employed as vice president and general counsel to a multidisciplined real estate development company, which financed, developed and syndicated various types of commercial and multifamily real estate projects. He also has extensive experience in representing owners and developers in the restructuring and workout of distressed properties. During more than 20 years as a lawyer and businessman, he has gained experience across a wide spectrum of issues affecting his clients.
