Gregory E. Heltzer

Gregory E. Heltzer is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C., office. He focuses his practice on defending mergers and acquisitions before the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, state antitrust authorities and foreign competition authorities. In addition, his practice also includes complex antitrust litigation, government investigations, and antitrust counseling.

Greg has a broad industry knowledge developed through representing clients in numerous industries that include among others: agriculture; aluminum products; biometric devices; chemicals (industrial); climbing equipment; consumer electronics; dairy products; defense products (simulation and training); energy; explosives and detonators; fire retardants; food products and ingredients; foodservice equipment; glass production and packaging; health care services; medical devices; office products; pet food; pharmaceuticals; software; and steel products.

During law school at Georgetown, Greg was a member of The Tax Lawyer. In 2003, he authored “Stalemate in the Aral Sea Basin: Will Kyrgyzstan’s New Water Law Bring the Downstream Nations Back to the Multilateral Bargaining Table?” 15 Geo. Int’l Envtl. L. Rev. 291 (2003).

Greg has experience in all three branches of government. Prior to joining the Firm, Greg served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable John A. Terry of the D.C. Court of Appeals. Before entering law school, Greg worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the Energy Star Program. He also served as a Legislative Intern on the staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works under the late Senator John Chafee (R-RI).

Greg is a member of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, the State of Maryland and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Greg also edits the Antitrust Alert blog.
