Albert Liou has significant experience with intellectual property matters, including patent and trade secret litigation, patent and trademark counseling, and intellectual property transactions. He has represented domestic and international clients on matters in various U.S. courts. His recent patent litigation experience includes lawsuits relating to enterprise procurement software, business dashboard software, mobile device management, RFID technology, and visco-elastic coatings and sealants. He also has experience advising clients regarding their patent and trademark protection and rights and preparing freedom-to-operate opinions. Albert has assisted on various intellectual property transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financing agreements, and joint development and research agreements. He has represented a Fortune 500 chemical company in private arbitration for the recovery of insurance proceeds relating to a plant fire.
In his pro bono representations, Albert served as a volunteer prosecutor for the city of Houston through the Houston Volunteer Prosecutors Program, where he has selected juries and tried 12 misdemeanor cases to verdict. Albert is an active member of the Houston Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, where he is chair of the Program Committee, and the Asian American Bar Association of Houston, where he serves on the Gala Committee.
