Hannah Chanoine’s practice focuses on defending and advising consumer packaged goods (“CPG”) companies and other consumer-facing companies grappling with high-stakes class action cases. Hannah has represented leading manufacturers of Greek yogurt, natural household cleaners, pet food, kombucha, baking products, probiotic baby food, and juice beverages against plaintiffs raising nationwide false advertising class action claims. Hannah also counsels CPG clients on strategies for mitigating litigation risk during product and label development. Hannah is a member of the adjunct faculty at Columbia Law School, where she co-teaches a course on U.S. Food Law and Policy.

Hannah has served as legal strategy counsel for a Fortune 200 consumer products company in 15 jury trials tried to verdict or mistrial. Hannah has worked with clients to develop legal strategies in a broad range of cases, including individual and consolidated personal-injury actions; consumer-fraud class actions seeking billions of dollars in compensatory and punitive damages; and medical-monitoring class actions seeking comprehensive injunctive relief. Hannah also has an active appellate practice, having been the primary author of appellate briefs in state and federal courts nationwide, including the US Supreme Court and state supreme courts, and having argued multiple times before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
