Heidi Hughes Bumpers

Since joining Jones Day in 1986 from her position as Section Chief in the EPA's Office of Enforcement, Heidi Bumpers has litigated environmental enforcement cases, Superfund cases, and natural resource damage claims. She has negotiated several voluntary environmental cleanup agreements and private cost recovery settlements. Heidi has been lead environmental counsel on a number of significant transactions at Jones Day and has represented purchasers, lenders, and sellers in complex corporate acquisitions and real estate deals.

Heidi's current representations include managing a portfolio of more than 80 Superfund cases, coordinating environmental issues, and providing regulatory counseling for a major tire manufacturer. Heidi was selected for a ninth year by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers (2013) and was named again as a "Top Lawyer" by The Washingtonian magazine and as a "Super Lawyer" by The Washington Post (2013). She was awarded the U.S. Bronze Medal for outstanding service at the Environmental Protection Agency. Heidi serves on the board of advisors for The Environmental Counselor and has written and spoken on environmental liabilities in corporate transactions, environmental enforcement, and records management.
