Henry R. King

Henry is a partner in the Princeton, New Jersey office of Reed Smith LLP. His practice focuses on providing a broad range of advice to owners and developers of energy projects, with an emphasis on solar, wind, geothermal and other renewable energy projects.

Henry has been involved in working with clients in the renewable energy industry for his entire career. Such work includes the negotiation of key contracts related to the development of power projects, such as site control, permitting, interconnection, equipment supply, construction, and power and renewable credit sale agreements. Henry has also acted as the lead counsel in a variety of transactions involving the purchase and sale of power projects during the development stage and after achieving commercial operation, as well as corporate and project finance transactions. In many of these matters, Henry has also negotiated the contracts between multiple owners of the projects, including several tax equity transactions.

Henry has also spent a considerable amount of time advising clients in the alternative fuels industry, such as the financing and development of ethanol facilities, the development of a wood pellet production facility, and the manufacturer of fuel systems for compressed natural gas vehicles. Henry is also advising a client with the development of a manufacturing facility for a hybrid-diesel automotive manufacturing facility, including the application to the U.S. Department of Energy for a loan through the Advanced Technology Vehicle Program.

In the steel industry, Henry has handled negotiations for a wide range of contracts, including power supply and transmission upgrades, water supply, purchase of pig iron, zinc and other metals, transportation of goods by rail, truck and barge, stevedoring and logistics services, equipment supply, construction and delivery of oxygen, compressed air and other gases, and the supply and processing of chemicals.

Henry also is active in pro bono work. He represents a small, unregulated tax-exempt water utility, and also represents parents and children in special education cases to obtain therapy and related services.
