Ilene Tannen has more than 20 years of experience providing strategic and innovative solutions for establishing and enforcing copyright, trademark, and trade dress rights around the world.
Ilene's experience in the fields of trademark and copyright law also extends to the area of commercial transactions. She advises companies on the intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, franchising agreements, and financings and assists clients in the expansion of their intellectual property rights through the negotiation of licenses, sponsorship arrangements, and other creative partnering methods. Ilene also counsels clients regarding the use of intellectual property on the internet.
Ilene represents domestic and multinational clients, both established and start-ups, in a broad range of industries, including financial services, telecommunications, sports, apparel, food and alcoholic beverages, health and beauty aids, pharmaceuticals, retail store services, and hospitality. She also counsels pro bono clients and not-for-profit entities on securing and enforcing their intellectual property rights.
An active member of the International Trademark Association, Ilene has helped make important legislative changes to U.S. trademark law and practice. She is a frequent speaker at professional and client conferences on such topics as intellectual property due diligence, domestic and foreign trademark practice, corporate rebranding and brand expansion, and trademarks and bankruptcy.
