Jaime D. Choi

Jaime Choi focuses her practice on intellectual property law in a wide variety of complex technologies. With over nine years of experience, her practice includes developing patent portfolio strategy, U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, due diligence investigations, patent and trade secret litigation, validity analysis, infringement analysis, freedom-to-operate analysis, and restoration of priority.

Jaime's representative work includes developing the patent portfolios of major defense contractors in technologies such as advanced materials, microfluidics, photonics, advanced telecommunications and interference suppression, optical signal processing, satellite communications, atomic clocks, and nuclear materials processing. Additionally, Jaime has significant experience in pursuing patent protection for complex algorithms, such as for analyzing genetic data or clinical data, encrypting data, or simulating organisms in silico.

Jaime also has developed patent portfolios for medical device companies in fields such as cardiac ablation, cardiac implants, transcutaneous drug delivery, x-ray therapy, and wound care. Her due diligence experience includes investigating patent portfolios relating to medical devices such as drug delivery systems, implantable pulse generators, cardiac valve replacement systems, and medical-related software, as well as clean technologies such as solar cells, wind turbines, and jet engine cleaning systems.

Prior to entering the intellectual property field, Jaime studied complex materials using ultrafast laser spectroscopy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She also interned at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where she studied self-assembling materials. Jaime is coauthor of several published journal articles and is a co-inventor on an issued patent (U.S. 7,387,027 to Choi et al.).
