James C. Pennington is an associate in the Cooley Business department. He joined the Firm in 2004 and is resident in the San Diego office.

Mr. Pennington has a general corporate transactional practice, representing emerging technology companies and venture capital firms. He represents both privately-held and public companies in the information technology, telecommunications and life sciences industries in a wide range of transactions, including public offerings, private financings of equity and debt securities, mergers and acquisitions and strategic collaborations.

In 2004, Mr. Pennington received an LLM, with distinction, in Securities and Financial Regulation from the Georgetown University Law Center. In 2003, Mr. Pennington received a JD, cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he was a member of the San Diego International Law Journal. In 1999, Mr. Pennington received a BA in History with a Business Specialization from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Mr. Pennington is a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, and the San Diego County Bar Association.
