James Eastman is a partner in the firm's San Francisco office and a member of the Real Estate & Land Use and Corporate & Finance Practice Groups. His practice focuses on real estate and business transactions. Mr. Eastman's real estate experience covers a broad spectrum of transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, mezzanine, high-yield and bond financings, joint ventures, secured and unsecured credit facilities, equity transactions, public finance, workouts, mortgage, capital market and conduit originations, and agricultural finance and development. He also has extensive experience in the origination of commercial mortgage loans throughout the United States for institutional lenders (both for their own account and for sale into the capital markets), secured by all real estate product types.

Mr. Eastman has an in-depth knowledge of acquisitions, sale-leaseback transactions, and commercial leasing, including the leasing of retail space, office buildings, shopping centers, warehouse, hotel and specialty, industrial and mixed-use developments. He has many years of experience working with property owners, landlords, and tenants in the area of ground lease development transactions. Mr. Eastman has a special focus in California and the Pacific Northwest winery and vineyard-related transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, finance, development of vineyards and wineries, lease and sublease development, and food and beverage distribution.
