Jim Jones represents clients in complex commercial, class action, and multijurisdictional litigation. He has prosecuted and defended these actions in state and federal trial and appellate courts around the country and before arbitration panels. These actions have included breach of contract, business tort, accountants' liability, environmental, product liability, fraud, consumer fraud, and like claims. In these proceedings, Jim has represented energy companies, chemical companies, financial institutions, telecommunications companies, and medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Jim's commercial litigation docket involves matters for electrical power suppliers and steel manufacturers, including EME Homer City Generation and United States Steel, and their rights and obligations under coal supply agreements. His environmental work includes the defense of Edison Mission Energy affiliates in Clean Air Act litigation initiated by the federal government and various states against current and former owners and operators of coal-fired power plants, as well as the defense of coal and wind power generators in suits brought by owners of property near generating facilities.

Jim’s trial experience includes state and federal court jury trials and arbitrations. His appellate work covers briefing and argument before state and federal appellate panels.

Jim serves as administrative partner of the Pittsburgh Office. He is a member of the board of directors of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh. Jim has been honored by the Legal Services Corporation, which named him the "Nation's Urban Pro Bono Publico Attorney of the Year" for his work with the homeless.
