James N. Bierman

James N. Bierman is a retired partner with Foley & Lardner LLP, where he was a member of the Government & Public Policy and International Practices. He was involved in many management roles within the firm, including past chair of the General Regulatory Practice, former managing partner of the Washington, D.C. office for 15 years, past vice chair of the firm’s National Pro Bono Committee, and past chair of the firm’s National Recruiting Committee. He served on the firm's Management Committee from 1989 – 1998.

Mr. Bierman counseled commercial clients in administrative and business matters concerning international trade, export licensing, and customs tariffs. He represented clients in legislative hearings before Congress and in proceedings before the International Trade Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Communications Commission, and the Departments of State, Commerce, Defense, Treasury, and Health and Human Services.
