James is a member of the Life Sciences Health Industry Group, practicing in the area of transactions. James provides advice to biotech, pharmaceutical and other life sciences companies in connection with corporate, transactional and regulatory matters. James represents these clients in licensing arrangements, strategic alliances and manufacturing and distribution arrangements. He is experienced in drafting and negotiating licensing agreements, manufacturing and supply agreements, distribution agreements, service agreements, research and development agreements, clinical trial agreements and advising life science clients on FDA and other regulatory issues specific to the industry.

Prior to joining Reed Smith, James held a variety of management and legal positions within the pharmaceutical industry. His industry experience includes filing NDAs and ANDAs, facilitating GMP inspections, reviewing prescription drug advertising and promotional materials, developing and implementing pharmacovigilance programs, coordinating product recalls and advising corporate management on fraud and abuse issues associated with pharmaceutical marketing practices and pricing issues associated with federal healthcare program reimbursement.
