Jeff Araten focuses his practice on counseling and defending hospitals and health care professionals against medical malpractice claims. With thorough preparation, excellent written communications and strong oral advocacy skills, Jeff takes his cases from inception through trial.

The medical malpractice cases Jeff has defended have involved the full range of claims, from newborn brain damage and quadriplegia, to wrongful death arising from all types of surgeries, to failure to diagnose cancer and other medical conditions. He has represented physicians practicing in a variety of medical specialties, including obstetrics and gynecology, pathology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, anesthesiology, podiatry and dentistry. He also regularly defends emergency room physicians in medical malpractice claims. In addition, Jeff has represented health care providers charged with professional misconduct before the New York State Education Department.

Jeff serves on the firm’s Education Committee and is one of the New York partners responsible for the firm’s Associate Training Program. He has presented risk management seminars and participated in mock trials for residents, carriers and insureds.
