Jeffrey S. DeVore

Jeff DeVore represents companies in compliance issues and disputes related to government regulations and agencies, with a particular focus on environmental and aviation regulation. He has represented clients before the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as environmental agencies in Pennsylvania and several other states. Jeff has defended clients in alleged violations of the Clean Air Act (CAA) and advised clients on compliance with the CAA, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). He also has provided advice and represented clients in disputes arising from the development of Marcellus Shale natural gas. Jeff has submitted comments to the FAA on behalf of airline clients in opposition to proposed agency rules. In addition, Jeff advises clients on potential environmental liabilities involved in corporate acquisitions.

Jeff is an FAA instrument-rated pilot with a commercial, multi-engine license and is currently a pilot in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. Prior to joining Jones Day, Jeff served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, flying missions for Operation Joint Forge/Joint Guard (Bosnia/Herzegovina), Operation Allied Force (Kosovo), Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has received several military awards and citations, including an Aerial Achievement Medal and two Air Force Commendation Medals.

As a member of the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations, Jeff is particularly involved with pro bono work for veterans, volunteering with the Allegheny County Bar Foundation Veterans Legal Clinic and representing veterans before both the VA and the DOD.
