Jeffrey W. Greene
focuses his practice on business and class action litigation with a concentration on complex eDiscovery and data privacy issues. Jeffrey assists clients with litigation readiness consulting, records retention and management, management of ESI before and during litigation, and creating defensible and efficient data governance practices.
Jeffrey has served as national coordinating eDiscovery/technology counsel for several Fortune 100 companies, responsible for coordinating the overall strategy for preservation, collection, review and production of ESI in thousands of state and federal lawsuits as well as government investigations. He has also worked as eDiscovery and technology counsel for more than a dozen Fortune 500 retail, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and financial clients. As part of these representations, he has advised his clients regarding best practices for storage and preservation of ESI and implementation of legal holds; developed and implemented discovery strategies for efficiently collecting, reviewing and producing ESI; and successfully argued on behalf of clients to limit the scope of eDiscovery, including defending and bringing numerous motions for sanctions, motions to compel, and motions for protective orders to effectively reduce the burdens and expenses associated with eDiscovery. Jeffrey regularly provides in-house and outside training on emerging federal and state law related to eDiscovery matters in litigation and frequently lectures at national and regional conferences on eDiscovery issues.
In addition to his eDiscovery practice, Jeff regularly provides counseling on compliance issues relating to Big Data and data privacy, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Electronic Communications Privacy Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and the Video Privacy Protection Act. He has investigated and defended class actions asserting deceptive trade practice claims based on privacy practices. He has also defended clients in privacy investigations brought by federal and state regulatory agencies.
Jeffrey is an experienced trial lawyer with experience in a broad range of commercial litigation matters, including insurance coverage, technology, labor and employment and tort law. He handles all phases of litigation and has tried and resolved complex cases in both federal and state courts, as well as in proceedings before administrative bodies and in domestic and international arbitrations.
