Jeffri A. Kaminski

Jeffri Kaminski focuses on protecting and enforcing his client’s intellectual property rights. He has experience in all aspects of patent prosecution, litigation and licensing. He works primarily in the semiconductor, software, Internet, wireless and telecommunications fields.

Mr. Kaminski counsels clients regarding the protection of their intellectual property. He works with his clients to help identify intellectual property and to protect it. Mr. Kaminski has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications relating to wireless devices, networking, semiconductors, software, computer architecture, business process management and medical devices. His practice includes all aspects of patent prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including successfully arguing appeals. Patents that Mr. Kaminski has obtained on behalf of his clients have been successfully enforced and licensed, generating revenue for his clients and keeping competing products out of the market.

Mr. Kaminski is also active in litigating patent infringement actions. He handles both the defense and assertion of these actions, including pre-filing investigations, strategic counseling, Markman and summary judgment. He is currently or has recently been involved in the following representative patent litigations:

Arendi S.A.R.L. v. Sony Mobile Communications, et al.
Representing the defendants in a case involving address handling within mobile devices. The case is ongoing.
Cyberfone v. Cellco, et al.
Representing one of the defendants in a patent suit involving form based operating systems used in mobile devices. The case is ongoing.
YYZ v. Software AG, et al.
Represented the defendants in a patent suit involving software for simulating business processes. We obtained a dismissal with prejudice at the close of document discovery.
TecSec, Inc. v. International Business Machines Corp., et al.
Representing defendants in a case alleging infringement of multiple patents related to data encryption and cryptography. After receiving a favorable claim construction for our client, a stipulation of non-infringement was entered. The claim construction is currently on appeal at the Federal Circuit.
Select Retrieval V. Amerimark, et al.
Represented one of the defendants in a patent suit involving retrieving information from a database records having plural fields. Venable obtained a favorable result for our client.
In re KATZ INTERACTIVE CALL PROCESSING PATENT LITIGATION
Represented defendants in a multi-district case alleging infringement of multiple patents related to telephony and call processing operations.
Innovative Solutions and Support, Inc. vs. J2, Inc., Joseph Caesar, James Zachary, Zachary Technologies Inc., and Kollsman, Inc.
Represented defendant in a case alleging patent infringement and theft of trade secrets relating to air data computers.
Hewlett-Packard Co. v. Intergraph Corp.
Represented third-party defendants in multiple patent action alleging that certain products purchased from his clients infringed the patents-in-suit related to computer-aided drafting/computer-aided engineering software systems.
Software AG and Software AG, Inc. v. BEA Systems, Inc.
Represented plaintiffs in a case alleging infringement of a patent related to middleware that enables communications between a software program residing on one type of computer at any location and a software program residing on another type of computer at a second location.
