Jennifer J. Chheda Ph.D.

Dr. Jennifer Chheda has extensive experience working on intellectual property matters with a focus in biotechnology. Her current practice comprises patent procurement, opinion, and consulting work. She worked at Pennie & Edmonds for five years prior to joining Jones Day, and her experience includes: the preparation and prosecution of patent applications; patentability, invalidity, noninfringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions; agreements; due diligences; inventorship analysis; interferences; reexaminations; and portfolio design and management.

Jennifer's scientific experience encompasses the interrelated fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, and genetics, with particular emphasis in the areas of signal transduction, virology, and cell biology. She is extremely knowledgeable in antibodies (chimeric, humanized, human), anticancer therapies, Alzheimer's disease, gene therapy, high-throughput drug discovery, drug delivery systems, biomedical diagnostics, enzyme replacement therapies, viral genomes and antiviral drugs, antibacterial drugs, anti-inflammatory therapies, anti-angiogenic drugs, recombinant DNA, gene patents, EST libraries, stem cells, transgenic animals, and pain therapeutics.

Jennifer also has experience drafting and negotiating intellectual property agreements, including licensing, sponsored research, and development agreements.
