Joel A. Feuer has been a partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher since 1989. He is co-chair of the firm's Litigation Department for the Los Angeles and Century City offices and a member of the Media and Entertainment Practice Group, and he has handled a broad range of complex business litigation. He has significant trial and arbitration experience. For example, Mr. Feuer has handled the following matters:

The defense of a national real estate lender charged with violations of California Business & Professions Code section 17200 with respect to the lender's loan process for commercial real estate loans. Plaintiff sought an injunction requiring the lender to change its practices and potentially disgorge millions of dollars in fees. Mr. Feuer was the lead trial lawyer in a two-week state court trial that resulted in a complete defense victory for his client.
The defense of a credit card issuer in a national consumer class action concerning alleged misrepresentations and omissions regarding card fees and in a state class action involving the card issuer's offer of insurance products. The case was settled very favorably for the client.
Defense of various "information providers" such as loan servicers, professional consulting firms, investment bankers, and accountants in connection with claims that the services were performed negligently and in breach of the providers' contractual obligations.
The defense of a so-called "mass actions" involving hundreds of individual investors, each with purported claims against the investment banker who acted as the private placement agent for fraud and misrepresentation in the private placement memorandum. Mr. Feuer as lead lawyer obtained summary judgment against the plaintiff investors in federal court.
The representation of clients in state and federal regulatory investigations.

Mr. Feuer has handled major matters for several accounting firms (including Deloitte & Touche), financial services firms (Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan Chase, Morgan Olmstead and Cantor Fitzgerald), and banks (Morgan Guaranty, Imperial Bank, Wells Fargo, Discover Bank, Chase Home Finance and Riverbank). He has significant experience in real estate litigation and has also represented numerous law firms in legal malpractice cases. Mr. Feuer has also represented clients in connection with investigations and proceedings before the SEC, NYSE and NASD. He has also handled internal investigations.

Mr. Feuer received his bachelor of arts degree in 1976 from Pomona College, where he graduated magna cum laude. He then attended University College, Oxford University and received a first class honours degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Mr. Feuer has published an article in Accountants' Liability: The Need For Fairness, National Legal Center for the Public Interest (1994). He is a frequent speaker on corporate litigation issues and most recently addressed the National Association of Corporate Directors on director liability after the Enron and World.com settlements.
