John A. Karaczynski

John A. Karaczynski is an experienced litigator with a practice focusing on complex civil and commercial litigation and class actions in a broad range of areas including contract disputes, antitrust and unfair trade practice claims, wage and hour litigation, and libel and defamation actions.

Practice & Background

Mr. Karaczynski is national antitrust counsel to the preeminent workers’ compensation insurance services organization. He represented that organization as national coordinating counsel and a steering committee member in two series of putative class actions alleging unfair trade practices and state antitrust violations.

Mr. Karaczynski was trial counsel for a national insurance organization and nutritional bar manufacturer in class action litigation involving wage and hour claims.

Mr. Karaczynski was trial and appellate counsel for an international financial services group in a series of real estate and contract cases and acted as plaintiff’s counsel for a well known investment adviser and mutual fund administrator in an action to enjoin trademark infringement.

Mr. Karaczynski received his B.A. magna cum laude in 1974 from Cornell University and his J.D. cum laude in 1977 from Cornell Law School, where he was a member of the board of editors of the Cornell Law Review.

Mr. Karaczynski’s engagements include representing:

a large insurance group against wage and hour claims in putative class actions
media clients in libel actions brought by well known entertainers and sports personalities and in proceedings to obtain media access to court records and proceedings in numerous high‑profile criminal prosecutions
the nation’s largest broker-dealer in a federal securities fraud trial
a foreign corporation in a series of actions seeking the return of funds that were not invested as promised
a Middle Eastern corporation in a dispute over a finder’s fee for a multi-faceted entertainment project
a sporting goods manufacturer in a wrongful termination case.
