John E. Clabby

John "Jack" Clabby is a shareholder in the firm's national trial practice group. Mr. Clabby concentrates his practice on defending companies, executives, and directors in shareholder class actions and derivative suits, government investigations, and other high-stakes litigation alleging corporate and commercial wrongdoing.

Mr. Clabby also advises companies on a variety of legal issues regarding cybersecurity, including educating boards of directors about their duties with respect to data protection and working with companies on how to communicate with law enforcement during or after data loss events. He has participated in investigations of companies – both as a federal prosecutor and in private practice – concerning suspected insider threats to the integrity of IT environments.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Clabby spent four years at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey where he investigated and prosecuted white collar crimes, including financial, mortgage, and tax fraud. As a national security AUSA, he prosecuted violations of the U.S. export-control laws and defense procurement fraud, on matters involving high-technology military hardware. Mr. Clabby also served as the sole Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property (“CHIP”) prosecutor for Southern New Jersey, where he advised other prosecutors on investigative techniques for computers, websites, and other electronic evidence.

Mr. Clabby began his career as a litigation associate at Williams & Connolly LLP in Washington, D.C., where he defended companies and executives in securities fraud class actions, government investigations, and complex commercial lawsuits.

Mr. Clabby is the securities and derivative litigation practice group leader.
