John J. Cunningham III

John J. Cunningham, III is currently a Vice Chairman of the firm, and has previously served as Managing Partner. John is also a member of the Compensation Committee and serves as an advisory member of the board of directors and the Management Committee. John joined Cozen O’Connor in 2000 and concentrates his practice in general corporate and commercial matters for a wide range of companies, institutions and individuals.

John’s practice encompasses the areas of corporate law, business succession, corporate disputes & shareholder claims, as well as corporate governance & compliance, directors & officers responsibilities & liability, employee benefits & executive compensation, family business services, financial institutions, and finally, financing, health law and mergers & acquisitions.

John has served on the boards of directors of financial institutions, manufacturing companies and charitable organizations. He has served as a member of both the Philadelphia Trial Court Nominating Commission and the Hearing Committee of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He is active in a variety of professional, charitable, educational, civic and community organizations, and has lectured and authored articles on various subjects.

John received his undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton in 1964. He earned his law degree from Villanova University School of Law in 1967.
