John P. Miller

John Miller's practice focuses on complex trial and litigation matters involving construction, energy, product liability, insurance, and commercial disputes. He has tried cases to juries and before arbitration panels. In addition, he has successfully represented parties in mediation on complex commercial matters.

John represents owners/developers, EPC and general contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and design professionals. He also advises clients in the contracting and documentation phase of projects, including dispute avoidance and claim preparation and payment and lien disputes. Recently, John successfully defended in an arbitration hearing one of the world's largest engineering and construction contractors in a dispute involving claims associated with work performed on the design and construction of a polymer chemical plant and successfully represented a seller of more than $400 million in oil and gas leases in the Marcellus Shale play in a post-closing dispute with the buyer who asserted multiple contractual breaches as well as misrepresentation claims.

Prior to joining Jones Day, John successfully represented a major building materials manufacturer in multiple product liability and construction lawsuits and participated in an arbitration hearing for an owner of a large manufacturing facility in a dispute with a contractor related to a multimillion dollar roofing project.

John is a member of the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, and Allegheny County Bar Association and their respective construction and litigation sections.
