Jonathan Birenbaum is a partner in the firm’s New York office who concentrates his practice on acquisitions and dispositions, principally in the energy and infrastructure sectors, and project finance.

Mr. Birenbaum regularly represents both strategic and financial clients in connection with the financing, acquisition and disposition of energy and infrastructure projects. He has played a primary role in many complex transactions involving many varied structures and assets with values ranging from several million to several billion dollars. Particularly, Mr. Birenbaum’s practice focuses primarily on energy and other infrastructure sector acquisitions and dispositions of companies, projects and portfolios, and project financings, including tax-oriented, preferred and other equity investments, senior secured and subordinated loans, and leveraged lease financings. His experience extends to a wide variety of energy projects, including gas- and coal-fired generating plants, alternative energy (especially wind, solar, and geothermal) projects, nuclear generating plants, transmission assets, oil and gas pipelines and related facilities, and gas storage facilities.

Mr. Birenbaum received an A.B. in International Relations, with honors, and French in 1975 from Colgate University. He received a J.D., cum laude, in 1978 from Albany Law School of Union University, where he was articles editor of the Albany Law Review.
