Merger Experience. Mr. Gowdy has significant experience advising parties to large M&A transactions on antitrust notification requirements and substantive competitive issues.

Mr. Gowdy has secured antitrust clearances for hundreds of transactions notified to US, EU, and other international antitrust agencies with active antitrust regimes, such as Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, South Korea and Taiwan.
Mr. Gowdy has represented clients, such as AirTran, Oracle, Hitachi, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Inamed and Tanox, in transactions subject to in-depth reviews and investigations by enforcement agencies. He has represented clients in oral hearings on contested mergers before the European Commission, and when necessary, negotiated remedial settlements with relevant agencies to resolve competitive concerns.
Mr. Gowdy regularly advises customers and competitors of merging parties in responding to inquiries from antitrust agencies. He has assisted firms that are purchasing businesses subject to divestiture requirements with obtaining necessary approvals from domestic and international antitrust agencies.
