Dr. Joseph B. Crystal is a senior attorney in the firm’s Litigation Department, where he is a member of the Intellectual Property Group. Dr. Crystal’s practice focuses on patent litigation and client counseling in the pharmaceutical and chemical areas. He joined Goodwin Procter in 2004.
Dr. Crystal has advised clients on intellectual property issues in a variety of technological fields, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices and pesticides. His experience includes patent litigation, Hatch-Waxman pharmaceutical patent litigation, opinion work (invalidity, clearance and due diligence), client counseling and patent prosecution. Since joining Goodwin Procter, Dr. Crystal has focused on patent litigation, opinion work and client counseling. In this capacity, he helped Makhteshim Agan of North America, Inc. and Control Solutions, Inc. obtain summary judgment and defeat a preliminary injunction and has also helped Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. obtain favorable settlements across a number of jurisdictions.
