Joseph Gibbons’ practice includes the representation of clients in commercial litigation and insurance law matters in state and federal courts. Over the past decade, the primary focus of his practice has been the representation of creditors, debtors, insurers and other interested parties in complex bankruptcy cases. He has represented insurance companies before bankruptcy courts throughout the country in cases filed by companies facing asbestos, environmental and other mass tort liabilities.
Joseph also has extensive experience in the enforcement of creditors' rights under state law through commercial and residential mortgage foreclosure, receivership and non-judicial proceedings such as asset sales under the Uniform Commercial Code. In addition to litigation, Joseph has utilized arbitration and mediation proceedings to settle disputes both inside and outside of the court system.
He also provides advice and assistance to clients in contract negotiations in order to reduce the potential for future litigation and minimize any negative effects that any such litigation may have on his clients’ businesses.
In past years, Joseph has also represented individual and institutional clients in civil litigation involving professional liability, toxic torts, environmental law, personal injury and insurance coverage disputes.
