Ms. DiLena is primarily engaged in litigating and prosecuting patents. Her practice further includes trademark litigation and prosecution, licensing and opinion work related to all forms of intellectual property, and general business litigation. She has a particular interest in pharmaceutical law and associated Hatch-Waxman and ANDA litigation, where she has been involved in drafting Notice Letters and has successfully petitioned for the delisting of patents from The Orange Book.
Ms. DiLena has extensive experience throughout the entire litigation process from drafting of pleadings, taking and defending depositions and arguing motions, to examining trial witnesses and preparing post-trial motions and briefs. She has drafted and prosecuted U.S. and foreign patents in a variety of technical fields, including pharmaceuticals, cosmeceuticals, and mechanical and medical devices. In August 2011, she participated in SSJR's Visiting Attorney Program, working with European Patent Attorneys in Hamburg, Germany. Ms. DiLena also has experience with the prosecution of a variety of trademarks and trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. DiLena worked as a Research Scientist for Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. in Biopharmaceutics formulation development and tech-transfer. Ms. DiLena graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from Bucknell University, where she was a member of the Varsity Swimming Team. During her undergraduate studies, Ms. DiLena performed research in organic synthesis and environmental chemistry and interned for Pfizer in Microbiology/Quality Assurance.
