Joshua Charles Prever

Joshua C. Prever is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Prever's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, financial services, torts, and securities litigation. Since joining the firm in 2004, he has managed and worked on numerous litigation matters for a variety of Fortune 100 and 500 companies. Mr. Prever has successfully tried cases in both Florida state court and the American Arbitration Association involving breach of contract and a variety of tort claims. He also routinely counsels clients on contract negotiations for a variety of business transactions and has experience handling insurance disputes, bankruptcy proceedings, and investigations conducted by the SEC and FINRA on behalf of banks, hedge funds, and security industry clients.

Mr. Prever currently advises multiple financial services clients on concerns raised by federal and state regulators relating to the mortgage crisis as well as litigation involving mortgage-backed securities. As part of his work with these financial institutions, he has assisted in a variety of audits, helped draft policies and procedures governing their foreclosure process, and implemented regulatory directives from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Reserve Bank, and a variety of state regulators. Mr. Prever has also assisted on Consumer Financial Protection Bureau matters, provided guidance to clients on this new regulator and lectured on the agency's new role in the financial and banking industry.

As a graduating member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Miami Program, Mr. Prever has participated in intensive leadership training through seminars, mandatory team service projects, and lectures conducted by national and local business and government leaders. While in the program, he helped design and implement a six-month service project designed to honor participant's life experiences through one-on-one intensive interviews. The program was conducted at an all-girls school for at-risk youth.

Mr. Prever also maintains an active pro bono practice, where he has served as a guardian ad litem for children and assisted Holocaust survivors obtain benefits through the German Ghetto Work Payment Program. In his work with Holocaust survivors, he organized several workshops where dozens of lawyers assisted survivors receive restitution for work they performed in ghettos established throughout Germany and occupied Europe before and during World War II.

Mr. Prever earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 2002. While in law school, he was a member of the University of Miami Law Review and served as a member of the executive board. Mr. Prever received several distinguished honors from the University of Miami, including Order of the Coif and the Dean's Certificate of Achievement, and was awarded both the Dean's and the Gordon Scholarships. He is still involved at the University of Miami School of Law and routinely volunteers his time to assist on a variety of initiatives. Mr. Prever earned his B.A., magna cum laude, in international relations from the Honors College of Florida International University in 1999.
