Joshua D. Davey

Josh focuses his practice on litigation of complex disputes in the financial services industry and on insurance coverage and insurance recovery litigation on behalf of policyholders. Josh has represented clients in federal and state courts in numerous jurisdictions as well as in arbitration proceedings. His experience includes representing national financial institutions in high-stakes mortgage and insurance litigation and recovering hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of corporate policyholder clients.

In addition, Josh has substantial experience handling a variety of commercial appellate matters before state and federal appeals courts and has argued multiple times before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Josh also has wide-ranging experience in a variety of other commercial disputes, including business tort and trade secret litigation, shareholder derivative and class action litigation, commercial landlord-tenant litigation, government contracting disputes, representation of religious and nonprofit institutions, and media and First Amendment litigation.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Josh clerked for the Hon. Dennis W. Shedd on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Josh is active in the community and as a member of the board of directors for MiraVia, a maternity home and aftercare facility located in Belmont, North Carolina. Josh is also a past general counsel of the Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Republican Party. Josh is also committed to pro bono work, and has represented clients in landlord-tenant disputes and handled appointments in criminal matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
