Joshua G. Hamilton

Joshua Hamilton is a partner in the Litigation practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. He concentrates his practice on securities and corporate governance litigation and investigations, defense of class actions, and other complex business litigation matters. Mr. Hamilton is the Vice-Chair of the firm's Los Angeles Litigation department.

As a member of the Securities Litigation and the White Collar, Investigations and Corporate Governance practice groups, Mr. Hamilton has substantial experience representing investment firms, public and private companies, and officers and directors in civil proceedings involving private plaintiffs, as well as in actions and investigations initiated by government agencies. Mr. Hamilton has represented clients in investigations and proceedings initiated by the United States Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission and Federal Trade Commission. Mr. Hamilton also has significant experience counseling public and private companies and their boards on corporate governance and disclosure issues and representing special committees of boards of directors in internal investigations.

Mr. Hamilton also represents clients in the mutual fund, hedge fund and private equity industries in both litigation and corporate governance issues. He has extensive experience representing investment funds, financial institutions, officers and directors, general and limited partners and investment advisors in cases alleging breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, violations of the Investment Company Act of 1940, and securities law violations.

Mr. Hamilton is also a first-chair trial lawyer with jury trial, bench trial, and arbitration experience. He also has significant experience representing clients in both the trial and appellate courts in class action, commercial, and real estate related lawsuits, including but not limited to claims alleging breach of contract, unfair business practices, trademark infringement, fraud, racketeering, and violations of state and federal consumer protection laws.
