Julie L. Hall

Julie L. Hall has been practicing law for 30 years, specializing in Labor & Employment Law matters. She is a Shareholder in the Firm’s Los Angeles and San Francisco offices, and a member of the Women’s Leadership Forum.

Julie brings valuable perspective and breadth of experience to her employer-clients; she has spent half of her legal career in law firm (private) practice, and the other half as legal counsel working in the law departments for large corporations. Julie’s significant prior background as a “company attorney” enables her to partner with her clients in a unique and extraordinary manner. Clients regard Julie as an attorney who understands their business, who is practical and strategic, and who is responsive and thoughtful in her approach to legal issues.

Julie represents and advises both non-union and unionized companies across multiple industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, energy, transportation, aerospace, and other industries. She counsels clients in a broad range of workplace law matters, such as pre-employment issues (background checks, testing), equal employment opportunity laws, disability laws and reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, workforce reductions/restructures, wage and hour compliance (federal and California), trade secrets/competition, and other areas. In addition, Julie is an experienced workplace investigator, who has also supervised investigations, and provided training on conducting investigations in the workplace.

Throughout her legal career, Julie also has represented employers in traditional labor matters (union-management relations). For clients who are concerned about future unionization, Julie provides training to employers’ management teams on the best practices for remaining union-free. For those employers facing organizing activity, union elections, unfair labor practices, or work-stoppages (strikes) Julie provides sound, practical guidance and support. Julie also has served as the chief spokesperson on behalf of employers in negotiating numerous collective bargaining agreements with labor unions. With significant success, Julie also has represented employer-clients in dozens of arbitration hearings in disputes with unions, in matters before the National Labor Relations Board and the California Public Employee Relations Board (“PERB”). In fact, Julie is one of a few employer attorneys in PERB’s entire history to have successfully obtained the issuance of a PERB complaint against a union for its bad faith bargaining conduct.
