Kathleen G Kane

As the state's chief law enforcement officer, Attorney General Kane launched the Commonwealth's first Mobile Street Crimes Unit to combat gang-related violence and drug trafficking, which have plagued communities across the state and pose serious threats to public safety. The Unit's maiden deployment to Hazelton resulted in more than 100 arrests and the seizure of approximately 35,000 packets of heroin.

During her first year in office, Attorney General Kane elevated the Child Predator Section to a stand-alone group of experienced investigators and prosecutors, and provided the section with a state-of-the-art facility to conduct investigations. The section arrested 114 child predators in 2013, which was a sixfold increase over the previous year when only 19 were arrested.

Ensuring the safety of children and all Pennsylvanians is Attorney General Kane's top priority, and illegal drugs are the number one threat to public safety in Pennsylvania.

She works vigorously to protect the state's youngest citizens from the dangers of drugs, violence, and crime, frequently visiting schools and events all across the Commonwealth. Attorney General Kane has revamped the office’s presentations to educate students, parents, and teachers about cyber bullying, drugs and online predators. Since January 2013, agents from the Office of Attorney General's Education & Outreach Section have reached more than 300,000 citizens.
