Margaret L. Richardson

Margaret Richardson advises clients on white collar defense matters, including government and internal investigations, and other significant regulatory and litigation matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Richardson was the Chief of Staff and Counselor to Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. As Chief of Staff, she served as principal advisor to the Attorney General on all matters before the Department of Justice, including criminal investigations and prosecutions, complex civil litigation, and closely-held national security matters. Ms. Richardson often served as the Department’s chief liaison to both the White House and other U.S. government agencies.

Ms. Richardson implemented many of the Obama Administration’s most significant domestic and international legal and policy initiatives, including criminal justice reform, protection of voting rights, advancing marriage equality, cybersecurity and surveillance reform, countering violent extremism, updating federal investigative guidelines relating to members of the media, asset-forfeiture reform, reestablishing diplomatic relations with Cuba, and addressing systematic financial fraud.
