Mark G. Pedretti

Mark serves as Global Chair of Reed Smith’s Private Equity Group. He specializes in the areas of private equity, mergers and acquisitions, securities, and transactional IP matters. He regularly represents private equity funds, venture capital funds, sovereign wealth funds, international funds, sector funds, hedge funds, regional funds, investment banks, family offices and portfolio companies in various types of complex domestic and cross border investment transactions. Mark has been the lead partner on a number of high profile, multi-billion dollar transactions for the firm’s clients.

His practice also focuses on public and private mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, recapitalizations, joint ventures, and management buyouts, particularly in the financial services, technology, media and telecommunications, real estate and hospitality, life sciences and healthcare, manufacturing and industrials, consumer and retail, and entertainment industries.

Mark also has extensive capital markets experience, representing both issuers and investors in public offerings and private placements.

Mark is the author of numerous articles on private equity, securities law, and mergers and acquisitions.

Mark was listed among the "Leading Lawyers" for Mergers; Acquisitions and Buyouts: Middle-Market ($500M-$999M) in the Legal 500 US 2010: "Highly recommended M&A lawyer and team leader." According to 2009 The Legal 500 directory, Mark is regularly picked out by clients for his M&A experience. He is ‘knowledgeable, connected, thoughtful, responsive, and always available during important matters’, and has ‘deep business understanding as well as law.’
