Matthew S. Weiler is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Weiler focuses his practice on securities litigation, and has experience in complex commercial litigations, including class actions, international law, antitrust, corporate ownership and control, sports law, and white collar investigations.

His recent representations include the following:

Successful defense of a prime broker in actions alleging violations of California's blue skies laws related to clearing and settlement of equities transactions.
Successful representation of international shipping lines in district court and before the Ninth Circuit in a post-judgment enforcement action raising a defense under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.
Representing corporations in derivative litigation in state and federal courts.
Representing a foreign sovereign in employment class action.
Representing a broker-dealer in connection with a national litigation concerning tax shelters in several California courts.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Weiler practiced in the Los Angeles office of a prominent New York-based law firm.

Mr. Weiler received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2004. He received his B.A., with highest distinction, in economics from the University of Michigan in 2001, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a James B. Angell Scholar.

Mr. Weiler is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Central Districts of California.
