Michael A. Battle, the former United States Attorney for the Western District of New York and Director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys, joined the Firm in 2010 as a Senior Partner.Mr. Battle received a B.A. cum laude from Ithaca College in 1977 (Sociology/Anthropology) and a J.D. from SUNY Buffalo Law School in 1981. During his career, Mr. Battle has worked in a variety of prestigious public service legal positions.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Battle worked as an attorney for the Legal Aid Society, N.Y. Civil Division; as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of New York; and then as one of the first three Federal Defenders in the Western District of New York. In 1995, New York State Attorney General Dennis Vacco appointed Mr. Battle Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Buffalo Regional Office, where he supervised a large staff representing the State of New York. In 1996, he was appointed by Governor George Pataki (and was subsequently elected) to the Erie County Family Court bench, where he decided hundreds of family-law cases.
