Phillip (Phil) Silvestri is Senior Counsel in the Banking & Finance Litigation and Cannabis Law practices. Phil represents clients in highly regulated industries, as well as creditors in complex default-related litigation, bankruptcy, and foreclosure matters, and businesses in the cannabis industry. Phil is also an experienced mediator.

Phil is a experienced foreclosure mediation advocate, having participated in over 2,500 mediations. This experience allows him to be a frequent lecturer and author in the area of creditor rights with an emphasis on foreclosure mediation. Additionally, Phil’s mediation experience led to the Nevada Supreme Court appointing him to the State of Nevada Foreclosure Mediation Program Advisory Committee in 2010, where he has served since that time. In this role, the Court tasked him with evaluating the effectiveness, operation, policies and practices of the Nevada Foreclosure Mediation Program. Additionally, Mr. Phil has been responsible for studying the program rules and making recommendations to the Court regarding improvements to the program.

Prior to joining Greenspoon Marder, Phil managed his own practice, Silvesri Gidvani, P.C. representing creditors and cannabis businesses. He previously worked in the areas of construction defect defense and mass tort litigation. Phil is a 2008 graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. At Wake Forest, Phil was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient, and an active participant in many trial advocacy and moot court competitions. Prior to law school, Phil attended the State University of New York at Fredonia, earning his B.A. summa cum laude in legal studies, philosophy and political science. Phil is originally from Buffalo, NY.

Phil has been named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers magazine each year since 2012. He was also recognized in 2014 by both Senator Harry Reid and Desert Companion magazine as being a “Top Lawyer” in Nevada.
