Rachel Tausend, a partner in the firm’s Seattle office and its e-Discovery Analysis and Technology (e-DAT) Group, is an experienced securities enforcement attorney and civil litigator. Over the course of her career, she has developed an in-depth, practical and hands-on understanding of information governance and e-discovery. Her practice has included representing clients in civil litigation and in regulatory examinations, investigations and enforcement actions, and conducting internal investigations. She now focuses primarily on the information governance and e-discovery issues and needs in these and other types of matters.

Ms. Tausend regularly counsels clients on developing and implementing defensible, cost-effective approaches to document identification, organization, preservation, collection, analysis, and production. She also has advised clients on pre-litigation readiness and other non-litigation information governance topics. Through these experiences, she has encountered and addressed the constantly evolving complexities, challenges, and opportunities of electronically-stored information (ESI) in many ways and forms. She understands the importance of employing records management and discovery strategies that not only fulfill her clients’ legal and business obligations and appropriately manage risks, but also minimize expenses and business disruptions. She has prepared educational and training materials and programs, and written several articles, on a variety of subjects relating to ESI, information governance and e-discovery.
