Richard A. Shortz

Richard A. Shortz is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Business and Finance Practice. Mr. Shortz practices in the corporate area with an emphasis on energy and project finance; corporate mergers, acquisitions, and other business combinations; corporate finance; and general representation of publicly held companies and corporate securities.

Mr. Shortz previously served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Tosco Corporation, a Fortune 200 energy company, where he was involved in numerous acquisitions as the company grew from $100 million in revenues to more than $2 billion in revenues.

Mr. Shortz currently serves as the co-chairman of the Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group of the firm and is the Practice Group Leader of the Business and Finance Group in Los Angeles.

Mr. Shortz represents a number of small to very large energy companies where he has been involved in more than 50 acquisitions, dispositions and financings for independent power projects over the last five years, including domestic and international projects. He also has been responsible for a number of major oil and gas acquisitions, dispositions and financings during this time.

Mr. Shortz is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
