Theodore B. Schroeder

Ted Schroeder is counsel in Alston & Bird’s Legislative & Public Policy Group.

Ted has significant experience working on Capitol Hill, serving as chief counsel to Senator Christopher Coons and, prior to that, as counsel to Senator Edward Kaufman. As chief counsel, Ted was chief policy advisor to Senator Coons on the Judiciary Committee, as well as on matters pertaining to telecommunications and cybersecurity. During his tenure, Ted served as chief counsel to the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Bankruptcy and the Courts and as chief minority counsel for the Subcommittee on Oversight, Agency Action, Federal Rights and Federal Courts.

In his six years working in the Senate, Ted worked on a variety of issues to come before the Judiciary Committee, including committee and Senate passage of comprehensive immigration reform in 2013, introduction and passage of the Temporary Bankruptcy Judgeships Extension Act and key negotiations concerning the information sharing and critical infrastructure provisions in the Cybersecurity Act of 2012.

His experience also includes conducting an antitrust oversight review of the proposed Comcast-Time Warner merger, drafting and introducing bipartisan legislation to create private rights of action for trade secret theft and participating in congressional inquiries regarding the effect of industry practice on the security of consumer privacy.
