Alexander J. Hadjis

Alexander J. Hadjis is a patent trial attorney. He is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation and PTAB Trial practices. Clients faced with high-stakes patent disputes before the federal district courts or the ITC rely on Alex’s experience, responsiveness, and winning track record. They appreciate his talent for explaining complicated technologies in a clear and compelling fashion in court, and his ability to quickly master those technologies to position cases for success.

Alex is consistently recognized by notable independent commentators as a leading intellectual property litigator, including Chambers USA, Chambers Global, Legal 500, IAM Patent 1000, Super Lawyers, and The Washington Post. They state, for example, that:

“Alexander Hadjis is the standout name here, winning praise for his litigation prowess before district and federal courts as well as the ITC.”
“Alexander Hadjis is an ‘outstanding attorney who knows how to make an impact.’”
“‘Sharp and experienced lawyer,’ Alexander Hadjis is ‘one of those leaders who people gladly follow.’”

Alex has served as lead counsel in many noteworthy cases before the federal district courts and the ITC. For example, he has successfully tried and litigated cases for companies such as Cypress Semiconductor, Freescale, Genesis Microchip, Huawei, Intel, Spansion, and Thomson Consumer Electronics. Representative trial victories include:

Major defense win against Philips, where, as lead counsel, he successfully employed an antitrust-based patent misuse trial defense that pertained to patents from a patent pooling arrangement that reportedly garnered over $1 billion in revenues.

Plaintiff win for Genesis Microchip, in which he was responsible for obtaining an injunction for Genesis Microchip as a result of a trial victory against the entire LCD controller product line of MStar Semiconductor. In addition to the work he does for his clients, Alex is regularly asked to speak about intellectual property issues at conferences and other events around the globe.

Prior to joining Oblon, Alex was the Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Group and the Chair of the International Trade Commission Practice of another large international law firm.
