Benjamin A. Potter is an associate in Latham & Watkins' Silicon Valley office, where he is a member of the firm's Emerging Company Practice and a member of the firm's Corporate Department. Mr. Potter represents emerging companies, venture capital firms and investment banks involved in the technology, life sciences and cleantech industries. His practice focuses on general corporate counseling, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions and public offerings. Mr. Potter’s general company representation includes assistance with formation issues, employment matters, equity incentives, securities law compliance, negotiation of license agreements and advising boards of directors regarding corporate governance matters. Mr. Potter was recognized by Super Lawyers as a Northern California "Rising Star" in 2014 and 2013.
Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Potter worked at IBM Global Services and two education start-up companies in New York City.
Mr. Potter received his JD, cum laude, in 2006 from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was Contributing Editor of the Michigan Law Review, and his MBA, in 2006, from the University of Michigan Business School. In 1998, he received his BA in History, with Distinction, from Yale University.
