Chi Shum is Counsel at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in the Firm’s New York office and a member of the Firm’s Corporate Department. Chi’s practice focuses on the formation and operation of private equity funds and compliance matters for investment advisors. He has represented sponsors such as BTG Pactual, SteelRiver, The Carlyle Group, The Sentient Group, Lehman Brothers and Cypress in connection with private equity, real estate and infrastructure funds and employee securities companies.

Chi received his J.D., magna cum laude, from St. John’s University School of Law in 2000, where he was Articles and Notes Editor of St. John’s Law Review. He received his B.S. from Cornell University in 1995. Chi is admitted to practice in New York.
