CHRIS BURUSCO is a senior staff attorney in Sidley’s Los Angeles office and member of the global Insurance and Financial Services practice group. Mr. Burusco’s practice focuses on corporate, regulatory and transactional matters for publicly and privately held U.S. and international insurers and reinsurers. He also represents insurance producers (agents, brokers and surplus line brokers), risk retention groups, risk purchasing groups, administrators, adjusters and motor clubs.
Mr. Burusco’s experience includes:
formation, capitalization and licensing of insurance companies
licensing and regulation of producers and other intermediaries
mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financings, renewal rights transactions, joint ventures and reorganizations
investment compliance
product development and form/rate filings
reinsurance transactions
insurance holding company system regulation and compliance
examinations (claims, underwriting and financial).
Mr. Burusco also represents non-insurance clients, such as banks, private equity funds, retailers, mortgage lenders, benefit administrators and professional employer organizations, with respect to insurance company and producer relationships and transactions.
