Cong Yao

Cong Yao, Ph.D., is an Associate in the litigation group in Fish & Richardson’s Silicon Valley* office. Dr. Yao is involved in all phases of litigation at District Courts and International Trade Commission, counsels clients on Inter Partes Review and FDA regulatory issues, conducts IP due diligence and freedom to operate, and works with clients of all sizes.

Dr. Yao also prosecutes patents in the Biotech and Life Sciences sectors. His technical background focuses on Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Microscopy, Developmental Biology, and Immunology. He authored scientific articles on different human diseases including Autism-like diseases. Dr. Yao’s Ph.D. thesis involved knocking down gene expression using a modified RNAi technology taking advantage of morpholinos. Dr. Yao has extensive experience in gene cloning from primer design to analyzing sequencing data. His postdoctoral work focused on electrophysiology in neurons.

Dr. Yao was previously a Summer Associate of the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Yao served as an Intern for The Honorable William G. Young of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts
