Daniel T. Desmond

Dan is an associate in the firm’s Business, Real Estate and Finance and Creditors' Rights groups. In Dan’s work with business law, he focuses on all facets of business transactions ranging from entity selection and formation and structuring to mergers, acquisitions, succession planning for closely held businesses and securities work for publicly traded companies. Dan has also become one of the firm’s go-to attorneys regarding Dodd-Frank compliance and has helped clients adapt to the Act’s many requirements. In particular, Dan has counseled large, publicly-traded businesses and financial institutions on Dodd-Frank’s swap and financial derivative regulations. He stays up to date on current compliance issues and provides client updates when applicable.

In his municipal practice, Dan focuses on the representation of public bodies including boroughs, municipal authorities, economic development companies and industrial development companies. Dan works closely with municipal officials and staff in dealing with matters of governance, procurement, finance, land use, code enforcement, utilities and other matters. He has been involved as government counsel or solicitor in construction projects and sewer and water projects.

In his Creditors’ Rights practice, Dan represents the rights of creditors such as banks, credit unions, commercial landlords, large and small businesses, and professional organizations in a range of bankruptcy, restructuring, and workout matters. Dan assists clients with matters involving commercial financing, consumer loans, sales, leases, and other transactions. Dan has represented creditors before state and federal courts in both bankruptcy and collection matters.

Dan earned his law degree from the Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he was a Staff Editor of the Temple Journal of Science, Technology and Environmental Law. While attending law school, Dan served as an intern for the Honorable Marjorie O. Rendell of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He also interned during law school for the Honorable Eric L. Frank of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
